Day 1 Arrival to Sofia airport
Arrival in Sofia. Meeting by the guide, transfer to the hotel. Time for rest. Dinner.Overnight.
Day 2 Sofia
After breakfast, pick-up from the hotel for the tour through the capital.The tour includes: one of the finest pieces of architecture on the Balkans and certainly Sofia's crowning glory - the Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral honouring the Russian casualties of the 1877-78 War of Liberation (the biggest cathedral in Bulgaria), the Rotunda St. George, the church St. Sofia (which gave the name of the town) and the National Historical museum. Dinner and overnight in the same hotel.
Day 3 Sofia – Rila monastery - Plovdiv
After breakfast departure to the Rila monastery, the biggest and the most impressive monastery in Bulgaria, dating back to the National Revival period (18-19th century A.C.), which rises amidst the beautiful Rila Mountain. In the monastery you will visit the five-domed church Birth of the Blessed Virgin, the original monastery kitchen from the 19th century and the monastery’s museum. The journey continues to Plovdiv. Dinner with traditional Bulgarian dishes in the old town. Overnight.
Day 4 Plovdiv - Burgas
Plovdiv is the country’s second largest city, one of the most attractive and vibrant Bulgarian towns, situated in the Upper Thracian valley, along the two banks of Maritza River, scattered upon six unique syenite hills. Sightseeing tour through the old town, where old houses from the National Revival period, Thracian and Roman remains and a Roman Amphitheatre can be seen. Departure to Burgas. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Burgas – Nessebar – Varna – Madara - Shoumen
Departure to Nessebar, a beautiful town, situated on a small peninsula and on the land jutted out into the sea. The town is world wide famous with its numerous churches (dating from the 11th to the 14th century) and it is under UNESCO protection.Walking sightseeing tour through the old part of the town, regained its original romantic atmosphere: narrow cobblestone lanes, tiny squares, two-storied houses with stone-built ground levels and wooden upper floors jutting above the streets and external staircases, pubs, tavern and lovely flower gardens.Panoramic tour through Sunny Beach and Varna - the Bulgaria’s sea capital.On the way to Shoumen visit to the so called Madara Horseman, a mysterious relief, carved into the rock face, at the height of 25 m. The relief is dating back to the 3th century B.C. (UNESCO) and was considered to be a symbol of the victorious march of Bulgarian rulers. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Shoumen –Arbanassi - Veliko Tarnovo
After breakfast continue to Arbanassi, a picturesque medieval settlement and an architectural reserve. After a walk through the museum village visit to the Konstancaliev`s house and the church Birth of Christ (1637-1649), dug into the ground, interesting with its hidden cupolas and the art gallery with more than 3,500 stunningly realistic figures and Biblical scenes, painted by unknown artists. Wine tasting in Lyaskovetz. Arrival in Veliko Tarnovo.City tour through the medieval capital of the second Bulgarian State, rapidly expanded during the 12-14th century A.C., turned into the strongest Bulgarian fortress. Visit of the Zarevets Hill. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 Veliko Tarnovo – Etara -Koprivshtitsa - Sofia
Continue to Etura, an open-air ethnographical and architectural complex, known for its lovely old houses, small shops with wooden shutters and master craftsmen of gold, silver, leather and wooden articles. Departure to Sofia, on the way stop in Koprivshtitsa to visit the Oslekov House (built in 1856), rich decorated with exquisite painted facades and sunny verandas, with carved ceilings and stylish European furnishings. Farewell dinner in a typical Bulgarian restaurant with folklore program in Sofia. Overnight.
Day 8 Sofia - airport
Transfer to the airport Sofia.
