          The town of Bansko is situated at the foot of the majestic Pirin mountain, only 160 km from Sofia, within the National Park "Pirin". The combination of beautiful old architecture, fancy hotels as well as small family hotels, modern ski runs and facilities turned the small town into one of the most prestigious ski resorts in Eastern Europe. Here everyone will find the suitable ski run for himself: for beginners – ski runs with slight slope, for advanced – steep, almost vertical. The resort has excellent snow conditions with great snow cover from December untill May. 44 Technoalpine snow cannons cover most of the slopes and make the ski season last longer.

The gondola lift is situated about 2,5 km from the city center. Almost all hotels provide transport to the lift station on schedule. The ski pistes are located in two main ski - centers- CHALIN VALOG (1100-1600m) and SHILIGARNIKA (1700-2500m). They are approximately 10 kilometers above the town on the northern slopes of Pirin, and are easily accessible for approx. 25 minutes on the new Gondola lift which starts from Bansko. Huge monitors showing pictures from the different pistes is based on the starting station of the Gondola. Thus people will have more information of the wind and temperature conditions before climbing up on the slope.

Beginners: The abundance of blue runs and the availability of baby drags make Bansko a great place for first-time skiers and snowboarders. The ski-schools have some of Bulgaria’s best instructors and the ski depots offer the latest in ski and snowboard equipment.

Intermediate: Variety of blue and red runs, suitable to intermediate skiers, make the resort a very good choice both for those committed to becoming experts, as well as for those who take up winter sports merely as a recreational activity.

Advanced & Off-piste: A regular host to off-piste competitions, Bansko is known for its extreme terrain and off-piste skiing. In addition, some of the red runs and the 'Alberto Tomba' black run offer advanced skiers plenty of challenges in the main ski area.

For the snowboarders there is an extreme fun park – the first one on the Balkans. The snowboarders can build jumps according to their abilities and taste. Snow sport lovers can take part in different competitions organized on the new piste on Shiligarnika.
